Creating Impact Beyond the Industry

At Apron Consulting, we believe innovation and leadership should extend beyond production floors — into communities, education, and meaningful social change.

Philanthropic Mission to Raise Awareness About Industry Harassment

Today, I Break My Silence

I want to share that I am currently facing retaliation and harassment within the Bakery and Food Industry. This behavior is being supported by certain trade societies and associations in the industry. By outlining my experiences and naming those involved, I aim to highlight this issue and mitigate its occurrence for others in the future.

Thank you to everyone who is providing support behind the scenes. This cohort includes former and existing Board members, Committee members, Council members, Chairs, and Staff members from existing bakery societies, guilds, food & beverage associations. YOUR support enables me to drive cultural change.

I understand that it can be challenging for bakery & food professionals to express public support due to concerns about retaliation. Given this context, I would like to introduce Boardroom Conversations. This platform will serve as a space for me to share my personal experiences of facing retaliation, and I invite you to reach out to me anonymously with your comments, experiences, or expressions of support. I will share YOUR relevant input to foster dialogue and cultural change.

Let’s strive to improve the bakery, food, and beverage industry.

Cindy Luker-Chananie

President, Apron Consulting

Apron Consulting seeks to combat harassment and retaliation which is both impactful and strategically aligned with Apron Consulting’s core values. The goal is to raise awareness, educate stakeholders, and support victims while influencing non-profit trade societies/association’s culture and policy.

For centuries, society has taught individuals that silence and compliance are shields against harm or judgment. However, this “quietude” fails to protect them. Instead, it shrinks them by forcing the internalization of their needs, allowing others to claim their space, and fundamentally eroding their agency, physical health, and self-worth.

We want to hear from you
